Lucius found himself using his position on the board of governors before the term even began, recommeding both a new teacher, Raziel Taverius, and a teaching assistant by the name of Domino Jinx. Jinx was simply done because it had been asked of him by one he would not comtemplate refusing, but Raziel was an old ally who he was glad to have positioned in the school. Not too far into the term, he came to survey the place he knew would be the stage for so many events to unfold, beginning by stopping at Raziel's office. After a short time of listening to the orderly man complain of the chaotic students, and one Slytherin particular by the name of Tonya, he had the Professor escort him to the Slytherin common room, hoping to check on his son. Draco was not in, but he was able to lead a small inquisiton on the unfortunate Tonya before departing. After repeated owls from Raziel complaining of aurors and a certain teaching assistant named Jinx, Lucius invited Raziel to his house for dinner. During this time he expressed his views that Jinx was to be aided but not trusted. He also learned the great extent to which Hunter McDavin was troubling Raziel. They also discussed Lucius's worries that Draco was not living up to his potential, and all the demure, obedient qualities that made Lucius's wife Narcissa such a perfect mate. Not too long after this visit, Lucius conjured a creature called a Gerzwitl to attack Hunter McDavin, but failed it in killing her. Joseph Hawkins recognized the spell, and accompanied by Anastasia Snape and Alena Dumbledore, and trailed by the student Luna Aquaria who had a crush on Hawkins, lead a late night disturbance to the Malfoy Estate.
